wola gas towers
The Gas holders were part of the Wola Gasworks which were situated just outside Warsaw, the large red brick shells and inner gas tanks were built in 1886-1888 and stood until WWII when they destroyed by artillery shells.
After WWII the gas holders were rebuilt and continued to run until the 1970’s when the internal containers were taken out in the 1970’s the gas works continued to run finally closing operations in 1978.
Today there is a museum nearby which documents the history of the gas works.
