Soviet Summer Camp
A short drive away from the very busy and extremely touristy Novy Afon, is this small Soviet Summer Camp set right on a beach. Nestled in its own tiny piece of woodland today it is passed by by people making their way to the beach.
Small compared to a lot of Soviet Summer Camps, what it doesn't have in size it makes up for in location :) There is a main hall, today mostly frequented by cows, and 4 small accommodation blocks. Judging by the small toilets on each floor, the ground floor was for boys and the top floor for girls.
There is a small parade ground in the centre with flag poles and the remains of a tiled mural depicting the flags of the Soviet Union.
If you ever go, pop into the café on the beach and say Hi they are lovely and have great snacks and Abkhazian Brandy!
