About an hour East of Tallinn is a former Soviet Submarine base , the base was built between 1956 and 1958 and apparently miles of local walls were demolished to help to shore up the foundations of the base. The base was in use for 33 years until the fall of communism.
What you can see today is approximately only 10% of what was there when the base was operational, there was a measuring system in the sea and the entire bay both below the water line and above was protected by wires and sensors which are assumed to have been taken as the Soviet Navy left the area.
