Soviet Civil Defence Bunker
Visited on a quick visit to Kiev is this totally amazing Soviet Civil Defence Bunker.
Bunkers of this type were often under or near Soviet Government buildings allowing staff easy access to underground safety should the Cold War escalate.
We are used to seeing these bunkers totally stripped of all items from the past leaving only a shall, this bunker was something else! The plant room was still intact and everything worked even the air filtration
Each room was like it was when the bunker was closed, with a room for all the supplies you may need, including food packs, gas masks, geiger counters, hard hats and anti radiation lits. There was a classroom with items still left in the desks. Rooms full of paperwork were followed by an operations/communications room also quite disturbingly, looking into the crates there was one of body parts showing the effects of radiation
