Sophien heilstätte
Not to far away from Erfurt is this former Tuberculosis sanatorium which opened in 1898.
By the 1950's with tuberculosis being all but eliminated due to vaccination the sanatorium became a centre of excellence with the DDR (East Germany) for cardiovascular issues.
On December 31, 1993 the hospital closed its doors, now part of a reunified Germany a bigger newer general hospital was built in the main town leaving this one surplus to requirements.
Sadly although we spent over 3 hours in here I do not have a lot of pictures as it appears I was having a wonky blurry picture day!
