Lazerett Teupitz
This hospital was also known locally as a "city for sick"
It was built from 1905 to 1908 as one of five large hospitals in the area. The term "city" is not far wrong as the complex does resemble a town. There are 8 dormitories for Men and Women, administration buildings, Doctors housing, workshops, supply buildings, kitchens, laundry room, a large tower and even a ballroom
During World War I the complex of hospitals was turned into a Military hospital for the wounded, only to suffer closure after WWI when the country suffered a great depression.
After the Second World War the building was used as Military hospital the Soviet forces, the hospital complex continued to serve the Soviet military until reunification in 1990, Russian withdrawal from the hospital began in 1991.
Today 2/3 of the former hospital remains derelict the other parts have been turned into a new hospital and housing.
