The Eshera Cow Hotel
Seven miles from the heart of Sukhum, take a sharp turn down one of three (bumpy) tracks that head toward the beach, you will find the remnants of a once grand nine story hotel.
Looking at the ornate concrete arches and the metal sculpture on the roof you can see that this must once have been an impressive hotel, but as with a lot of Abkhazia, the war took a horrible toll not only on the people but also on one of the largest means on income - tourism.
Wandering around even on ground level it is all too easy to see the damage inflicted by war, turning this once proud location into little more than a cow shelter.
As always checking out the beach once you have had a wander is a must :)
