Hotel Schöne Aussicht
The Free German Trade Union Federation, in German Freier Deutscher Gewerkschaftsbund (FDGB), was THE trade union federation in East Germany. It represented about 98% of all employees in the GDR. The FDGB was the biggest social mass organisation and the national and state-run tour operator for its members. The FDGB had its own holiday homes, where holidays were arranged for employees and relatives in locations that were owned by the FDGB and spread over the whole of the GDR.
In May 1990 shortly before reunification the FDGB was dissolved, some of the FDGB buildings were bought up into private use and continue today, a few were abandoned completely and now only survive as shells and some now sit abandoned either due to their location or because they were now not up to standard!
Judging by the looks of the building itself, the interior decor and the lack of facilities in some rooms it appears that this one did open briefly as the hotel but just could not compete with others in the area.
