Aldwych Underground Station
_Aldwych is a closed London Underground station in the City of Westminster, originally opened as Strand in 1907, by 1917 only one track was ever used since the number of commuters on the line was less than expected. The second tunnel was closed and the track lifted.During the Second World War, Aldwych was closed for nearly six years and was used as an air raid shelter and the unused tunnels being used as storage for art and treasures from the British Museum.
After reopening the station was never really that popular as it was a single spur off the main track and the underground only ran trains during peak hours up untill its closure in 1994. Nowadays it is used for emergency services training and a location for quite a few films
