St Edmunds
St Edmunds was a former workhouse which opened in 1836 it could accommodate 300 inmates; it cost approximately £7,000. The building was designed by George Gilbert Scott.
Around 1930 was converted to a hospital, later it became a geriatric long stay hospital before closing in 1999.
Apparently it was bought in around 2000 for redevelopment, demo started in 2004 leaving only the listed bits but the developers ran out of money and work stopped. Work may be starting again soon as there are some buildery things on site and the whole of the front building has been covered by scaffolding and an advertising cover
